I can feel a change in myself as the months go by. A gentleness appearing, a softening, an opening up. The pandemic left me with many bruises and I was feeling a little closed and afraid. The lessons we are shown in workshops are having a profound effect on my daily interactions. I am seeing things more mindfully and feeling more love around me. Once a month I go into a retreating space and breath better. So far we have had beautiful live music, lessons in gut health and fermenting, yoga anatomy, breathing techniques, and an in depth study of the ashtanga practice. But most importantly we are forming a supportive community of wonderful people striving towards a common goal. The program is delivered in a gentle way. The is no preaching, but there are suggestions on things that can help us. It’s led in a way that makes you fully automatous in your practice. You are guided to listen what you need and figure out where you are serving yourself best. I am so grateful to be part of the Astanga Yoga School Manchester. These are practices I wish everyone could know.

The beauty of the Ashtanga Yoga School course lies in the combination of it being not only an intellectual deep dive into the postural practice, but how the practice can be aligned with many other schools of thought and living. This means it is an offering to not only those new to practicing Ashtanga but those with an established, long term practice who are seeking to invest even more into it and to explore new possibilities of how it can be used to create the best version of yourself. So far, the course has surpassed all my expectations for this and it’s a huge credit to Matt and Donna for bringing this unique experience together in such an engaging, high quality and accessible way.

Ashtanga Yoga School creates a true community in which to explore yoga practice and teaching. Having amassed numerous yoga trainings and hours of solitary study, I was craving a space to find who I am in relation to it all, in the company of fellow yogis. Matt and Donna have shaped a loving and supportive environment that challenges self-enquiry and stimulates growth, developing a deep empowerment. The course syllabus is amazing, the visiting lecturers inspired, the support and instruction from Matt and Donna couldn’t be bettered - but the value of AYS is so much more than that. It’s learning from each other, it’s the mutual encouragement, the moments that stay with you and make you smile through the month, the echoes that appear in your own teaching, the feeling of walking a shared path. It’s been everything I needed and more than I’d even hoped.
